Our origin story

A BOLD VISION IS BORN

The idea behind S2H2+Bm was sparked in 2018, inspired by a bold vision: could green hydrogen become not only sustainable, but competitive?
That year, the Noor Abu Dhabi solar plant made headlines with its breakthrough low cost of energy – about $10 per barrel expressed in oil equivalents.

For our founder, Magnus Pousette, this milestone revealed a new possibility. With solar power that cheap, the door was opened for large-scale hydrogen production to finally compete with fossil fuels like coal and natural gas. A new industrial path was forming – cleaner, cheaper, and within reach.

Vision becomes reality

JOINING FORCES

In 2020, Magnus Pousette joined forces with engineers to transform that vision into a plan. Their goal: produce green hydrogen for under $2/kg ex works. The team zeroed in on a unique combination: a PV-plant in a solar rich location, co-located with a hydrogen facility and near Atlantic access for water and shipping. They aimed to rethink land use too – elevated solar panels to reduce ground costs and enable biomass cultivation beneath.

In 2021 S2H2 was established, and in 2022 the target hydrogen cost was independently validated. In 2023, the first PV demo plant rose in Sweden. A larger installation — featuring the novel suspension bridge approach — was built in May 2025. Key IP protections were approved in 2024/25 securing the foundation for global expansion.

Today, S2H2+Bm is more than an energy project. It’s a movement toward clean, affordable, and scalable hydrogen. Because when energy is abundant and cost-effective, the future is no longer a question of if—but when.
